Overview & Problem
Villa Argentina is a five-star boutique hotel a few minutes’ walk from Dubrovnik’s UNESCO-protected Old Town: a 1920s villa and its modern counterpart, 96 rooms and suites across two wings, reopening in 2026 after a complete restoration as part of Adriatic Luxury Hotels. The new website had to open before the hotel did, carry the weight of a Leading Hotels of the World property, and stay effortless for the hotel’s own team to edit.
Art Direction & Style
Quiet luxury, taken literally: generous photography, restrained typography and terraced layouts that echo the hotel’s seafront gardens. Motion is subtle and native, scroll-driven reveals without heavy animation frameworks, and everything respects reduced-motion preferences.
Under the Hood
A custom WordPress theme with 17 modular content blocks, bilingual (EN/HR), rooms and dining as structured content types, and a live Dubrovnik weather widget. Images convert to WebP on demand through a resizer hardened against traffic spikes: variants are generated behind an exclusive lock and published by atomic rename, so parallel visitors never see a half-written image. No jQuery, no bloat.
Results
From first commit to production in under two months, live on villaargentinadubrovnik.com ahead of the hotel’s 2026 reopening. Fast, bilingual, accessible, and fully in the hands of the hotel’s editors.
